North Atlantic

BEAMS Program – Student Research Posters

The North Atlantic has tremendous variability in seafloor geomorphology.  Features studied to date include many segments of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge as well as numerous seamounts in the northwest section.

The map below shows the regions included in studies by students, followed by links to posters by region.

Mid-Atlantic Ridge Studies (The Mid-Atlantic Ridge extends the entire north-south length of the Atlantic.)

Northwest Atlantic Seamount Studies (Numerous seamounts – or volcanoes that have originated on the seafloor – lie in the deep ocean between the New England continental margin and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.)
