OVERVIEW: On Thursday, August 6th, 2015, at 5:00 PM through 7:00 PM, Network Engineering will perform software upgrades to equipment that connects the College to the Internet. No impact to internal network or internet connectivity is expected.

External Internet Service Disruption

The College of Charleston’s external internet access is experiencing an unscheduled disruption in service. Information Technology is aware of the situation and working to restore service.

Internet and Network Connectivity Upgrade

IMPACT: Wired network connectivity in the Beatty Center will be unavailable during this maintenance window. Wireless connectivity will not be affected.

OVERVIEW: On Monday, March 2nd, at 7:00pm through 11:30pm, Network Engineering will upgrade equipment that connects the Beatty Center to the College network. Wired network connectivity will be unavailable for the duration of the maintenance window. Wireless connectivity will not be affected.

IMPACT: Access to the Internet (wired and wireless) will be intermittent during this maintenance window.
DATE: Saturday, November 8th, 2014
TIME: 9:00PM to 12:00AM

OVERVIEW: On Saturday, November 8th at 9:00 PM through midnight, Network Engineering will perform maintenance on equipment that connects the College to the Internet. Access to the Internet will be intermittent during this maintenance window. This maintenance windows affects both wired and wireless connections. Internet connectivity in residence halls and student housing will not be affected.

On Sunday, May 11, at 5:00 PM through 7:00 PM, Network Engineering will conduct maintenance on equipment that connects the College to the Internet. Internet connectivity will remain available during this maintenance window. Connections to and from the College may be reset and require users to refresh or restart their session.

OVERVIEW:

On Friday, April 11, at 6:30 PM through 7:30 PM, one of the College’s Internet Service Providers will conduct maintenance on equipment that connects the College to the Internet. Internet connectivity will remain available through the College’s secondary Internet provider during this time. Impact to service will be minimal. Connections to and from the College may be reset and require users to refresh or restart their session.

Network Upgrade for School of Sciences and Mathematics

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

SERVICE: Internet and Network Connectivity Upgrade throughout the West side of the School of Sciences and Mathematics Building (SSMB). Please note that no service disruption is expected.
DATE: Tuesday, February 18, 2014
TIME: 11:00PM – 12:00AM

OVERVIEW:
On Tuesday, February 18, at 11:00 PM through midnight, Network Engineering will upgrade equipment that connects the west side of the School of Sciences and Math building to the College network. No impact to service is expected. In the event unforeseen issues arise, wired Internet and Network connectivity may be unavailable in the West side of the building for the duration of the maintenance window. For example, computers that are connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable may not be able to access the Internet or College network. Wireless connectivity will not be affected.

Based on the report of the October, 2012 TechQual+  survey at the College, IT initiated or accelerated actions to respond with improvements to infrastructure, services, and support. Your feedback does matter! We hope that you will notice these improvements in your everyday encounters with IT and our services.

Did you know that IT has been working on major projects to improve wireless, classroom technology, and the internet on campus? Did you also know that..

  • Over 20 IT technicians were trained in Apple OS X environment in March 2013. Support technicians participated in a hands-on, training course designed to enable them to troubleshoot and familiarize them with the best methods for effectively supporting Mac users, including iPads.
  • After hours support is now available via the Helpdesk. Helpdesk hours are Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. and weekend support for Saturday & Sunday is 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Emergency after hours support is available 24/7.
  • The College’s mobile app, CofC Mobile, is now available for iOS and Android via their respective stores. The app aims to provide mobile access to commonly used features within MyCharleston and online services across the campus. Check out http://www.cofc.edu/cofcmobile/.
