Every time you write, post, comment, or text, you are in conversation with your audience. Whether that’s an audience of a few hundred followers or the lone recipient of a throwaway text, the act of sharing your written words creates a community between writer and reader.

In this discussion and practice-based creative writing course, we will explore the interplay between our words and those who read them. We’ll hone our communication skills—as both writers and readers—to better understand how the written word impacts the communities in which we coexist. We’ll examine real world writing applications (e.g., journalism, professional writing, community outreach, social media marketing) and discuss how written communication is evolving. And we’ll practice introductory creative writing concepts to see if artistic creativity can enhance our writing skills on everything from emails, resumes, cover letters, promotional material, texts, Instagram captions, and more.

Writers of all skill levels and inclinations are welcome. The class will meet weekly for one hour on Monday evenings.
