Mondays, Museums, Markets

After a jam packed day of exploring the beautiful Mediterranean coastline near Genoa yesterday, everyone woke up ready to slow down and move at their own pace.  Nine of us got up early to head over to the Mercado Piazza Palermo for some shopping, while others headed over later in the morning.  The Mercado Piazza Palermo is an open air market held in Genoa on Mondays and Thursdays each week.  The market sells mostly clothing and household items, but also has a separate section selling produce, fresh pasta and bread, and dried goods.  The market is a traditional Italian weekly affair and was bustling with locals when we arrived.

After coming back to the villa to eat an exceptional lunch cooked by Christina, some of us again ventured out in the city.  Alena, Clayton, Rachael, Jesse and Frances went down to caruggi area of Genoa to see an Alfonse Mucha exhibit at the Palazzo Ducale Museum.  Most of the others went to observe their piazzas and do some shopping.  Cassie, Caroline, Jen, John and I stumbled upon an antique bookstore where we rummaged through some unexpected rare books and prints.

We all convened back at the villa for a laid back dinner after a relaxing day of strolling around Genoa.  We will continue to work on our various projects in the morning and see what the rest of the day holds for us.

Ciao for now!
