Short answer: learn quantum mechanics

The college was closed today, so instead of teaching classes and such, I’ve been at home resting, doing laundry, etc.  And: Over the past couple of weeks, a few of us math faculty have been trying to learn about quantum computing.  That entails learning quantum mechanics.  So today, in true geeky fashion, I’ve been trying to make sense out of the concept of the inherent “spin” of an electron.  I’ve finally found some helpful stuff here on geometric algebra which is this nifty way of simultaneously generalizing complex numbers, quaternions, inner products, outer products, and linear algebra.
