Put it in Reverse

Welcome to Cougar Nation, Class of 2024!

It is our sincere hope that you are adjusting well to what’s currently the “new normal,” for all of us here at CofC.

As the second week of your freshman year gets underway, we encourage you to consider what it means for you to “begin with the end in mind.”

This classic catchphrase – made popular by businessman Stephen Covey – has served as inspiration for many successful people.

Covey’s point – outlined in his book The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People – is simple: when all is said and done, what do you want your end result to be and what actions or decisions will you be able to link to that result?

For you, it may be becoming the first in your family to earn a college degree, or landing a job in your field shortly after graduation. No matter your desired outcome, three things are key…the small choices you make each day during your time at CofC, the people you surround yourself with inside and outside of class and the mindset you have week-in and week-out. Each of these will shape the outcome you have in the end.

Though challenges and obstacles along the way may come, if you stay focused and choose not to take this journey alone, you will fulfill the goals and aspirations you have set for yourself.

As you begin your week, here’s a little motivation to help you start with the end in mind.

Have a great day.

Sincerely,

Your CofC Launchpad Team
