Scuba diving leads to career shift

What I loved most about our Pathways to Teaching Open House was the stories that our faculty shared that night.  Every story was different, but all described how one or two life experiences led to a teaching career.

Callie Van Koughnett recently told Mandy Manoski of the College of Charleston Magazine that scuba diving was the force behind decision to become a teacher.  As a candidate forour Master of Education in Science and Math for Teachers, Van Koughnett, “hopes to turn students into ‘intellectual participators rather than desk-riders in the world of science.”
