College of Charleston SCHOOL OF THE ARTS

CofC Musical Revue ‘Luck Be a Lady’

27 CofC Opera students will star in “Luck Be a Lady” musical revue. Directed by faculty member Amanda Castellone, the production themed around the greatness of being a woman will include classic scenes from “Guys and Dolls,” “West Side Story,” “Così fan tutte,” “Carmen,” “Into the Woods” and many others. The musical theatre and opera favorites will be performed in their original languages with supertitles displayed.

“Several scenes show the students’ comedic side, while others are more lyrical and dramatic and show our singing actors’ ability to emote beautifully through music,” elaborates Castellone. “The show includes music and dance, including one number (“Whatever Lola Wants”) choreographed by its principal singer and dancer (Samantha Mazzola and Ryan Sullivan).”

She adds, “I am also particularly proud to feature our seven seniors in “I Got the Sun in the Morning,” the Finale of our show. Our seniors are Josh Avant, Patricia Cooney, Hannah Garrett, Samantha Mazzola, Laura Owens, Alan Roberts, and Joseph Tan.”

DETAILS: The CofC Opera performance will take place at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 23, 2015, at the Recital Hall in the Simons Center for the Arts, 54 Saint Philip St. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $10 for College of Charleston students. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door.
