Illuminations is now accepting poetry, short fiction, and non-fiction submissions for Issue 33, to be published in Spring of 2018. While this is an open issue, we are especially eager to receive submissions from Cuban and Cuban-American authors for a featured section on new Cuban/Cuban-American writing. If you are interested in submitting your work, please find our guidelines here. The deadline for submissions has been extended to March 1, 2018.
In addition to the print issues of the magazine, Illuminations has recently also created this blog-site. Because we frequently get submissions of books from poets who have been published in Illuminations, we have included a section for book reviews, news, and other information. The blog is also featuring work continuing to address the theme of race in the United States begun in issue 31. This series, including poems by Martin Espada, Afaa Michael Weaver, and Safiya Sinclair, was kicked off by a powerful essay by Brenda Marie Osbey, entitled “Fallen at Charleston.” If you would like to contribute to this series of electronically-published material, please contact the editor, Simon Lewis, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
