Vendors and Views: Chiavari

This morning we all woke up and later made our way to the train station to catch a train to Chiavari, which is a small seaside town south of Genoa.

There, we split up into several groups so that we could pursue different activities for the remainder of the afternoon. While many of us do not speak Italian, we were still able to navigate the city and order food by asking questions and reading signage.

The market seemed to be primarily made up of plantings, flowers, vegetables and fruits. Even so, some of us stumbled upon an antique flea market within the medieval core of the city. Rachael made a excellent purchase with an antique tea set. Others walked through the market tents and ended up on the other side of the city at the beach. There, some of us enjoyed gelato seaside.

For lunch, a portion of the group shared leftover bread from the morning’s run to the neighborhood bakery. Still others chose to dine at local restaurants to get a taste of the local flavor. Towards the end of the day we made our way back to the villa on a train and a bus ride.

Our day came to a relaxing close with a leftover dinner enjoyed on the villa’s terraces and sun room. We look forward to a night’s rest and whatever adventure tomorrow brings!

Ciao ciao ciao ciao ciao ciao ciao ciao ciao bye,

Alena
