Why They Fought: Reflections on the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War

Professor Bernard Powers, College of Charleston, Dr. Walter Edgar, USC, and Barbara Bellows, independent scholar, will present talks at The Charleston Museum  on Friday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Fort Sumter-Fort Moultrie Historical Trust  running April 8-12 at several Charleston locations.
Professor Powers talk is entitled Black Carolinians, Racial Anxiety and Secession in the Palmetto State
Dr. Edgar’s talk is Before the Storm: South Carolina and Charleston on the Eve of War and Dr. Bellow’s talk is Charleston in 1860: The Great Secession Winter.
