“Daoist Sexual Cultivation” lecture by Livia Kohn (10/13)

The Department of Religious Studies is pleased to host guest lecturer Dr. Livia Kohn who will speak on “Daoist Sexual Cultivation” on October 13. Sexual energy is one of the key factors in human life. Daoists use it in conjunction with various other practices to create health, harmonize vital energy, enhance vitality, and transform toward immortality. This lecture will include examples from Chinese medicine, the “Bedchamber Arts,” religious rites, and internal alchemy (in particular women’s practice). Dr. Kohn is a Professor Emerita of Daoist Studies at Boston University and the leading scholar of Daoism in America. The lecture will take place in Wachovia Auditorium of the Beatty Center on 10/13 at 3:30 pm.
