Filmmaker Michael Apted will be at the College of Charleston, Tuesday, September 3.

Michael Apted is best known for his critically acclaimed documentary series, Up (7 Up, 14 Up, 21 Up, 28 Up, 35 Up, 42 Up, 49 Up) which since 1964 has been following the lives of 14 people from various social and economic backgrounds in England, reuniting them every seven years. The latest installment, 56 Up, will premiere on PBS on October 15 as part of the POV series. You can learn more here.

Apted is also the director many successful feature films, including Coal Minder’s Daughter (1980), Gorky Park (1983), Gorillas in the Mist (1988), Thunderheart (1992), James Bond 007 in The World is Not Enough (1999), The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), and Chasing Mavericks (2012).

The screening of 56 Up will be at 6:00pm, Tuesday, September 3, in ECTR 118, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker. This event is free and open to the public.
