On THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2012 at 6PM, The College of Charleston’s Avery Research Center will open the Smithsonian Institution’s Anacostia Community Museum’s exhibit “Word, Shout, Song: Lorenzo Dow Turner Connecting Communities through Language”.  The opening will feature remarks from the executive director of the Anacostia Community Museum, Ms. Camille Akeju, and Congressman James Clyburn.  Tickets for the opening are $25 and are payable at the door.  RSVPs are required, so please contact Ms. Elaine Savarese at 843-953-6526 to do so.  For any other questions, please call the Avery Research Center at 843-953-7609.
