Lately there’s been a massive rush to drill wells for natural gas all over the US (Marcellus Shale comes to mind.) Â Apparently, the environmental regulations are not able to keep up with the environmental degradation these operations are causing. See NY Times video.

I think that the environmental regulations are extremely important to keep up. I think our environment should be our number one priority and that if there was a shortage of natural gas, we as people would be able to adapt. However, if we do something that endangers the environment, it will be harder for the environment to adapt. This is another case of exploiting our resources, so we need to learn to treat our world right.
