Amy Farley– March 18, 2024

In this episode, Dr. Mike Gómez, Professor and Chair of Hispanic Studies, talks to Amy Farley (Class of 2007) about her work at Pulse Labs AI as the Director of Public Relations. They talk about how Spanish has always played a supporting role in Amy’s career. She’s worked as a city planner, spent time at Amazon, dabbled in start-up ventures, and helped build Pulse Labs from an early stage startup to a medium-sized business with customers including Google, Amazon, Nissan and other top companies.  She graduated from the College in 2007 with a double major in Historic Preservation and Community Planning and Urban Studies with a minor in Spanish. While a student, she participated in the Trujillo summer study program, lived in La Casa Hispana for three years, and tutored in the language lab.

In this episode, Dr. Mike Gómez, Professor and Chair of Hispanic Studies, sits down with Ms. Hallie Ritzu (B.A. Spanish / Political Science) to discuss her experiences as a student and her career as an attorney. While Hallie Ritzu did not choose to pursue a career that requires her to use Spanish in her everyday work, she gained fundamental skills through study of the language and through travel that have been important steps on the path to a career she enjoys.
