CofC Orchestra Performs Dances From Around the World

On Monday, Nov. 11, the Monday Night Concert Series will feature a performance by the College of Charleston Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Yuriy Bekker, who is the Concertmaster and Acting Artistic Director of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.

The performance will take place at 8 p.m. in the Sottile Theatre, 44 George St. Admission is $10 at the door and FREE for College of Charleston students with I.D.

The program will include an all-Dance concert with music from around the world:

Aaron Copland – Four episodes from Rodeo including “Hoe Down”

Arturo Márquez – Danzón No. 2

Antonín Dvorak – Selections from Slavonic Dances

Ronan Hardiman – Lord of the Dance

The College of Charleston Chamber Orchestra is a small orchestra consisting primarily of music students from the College. Some of the students in the orchestra are not music majors, but are experienced players who perform in the group in order to stay active as musicians.
