Dr. Bing Pan and Dr. Wayne Smith, two professors in the department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the School of Business, are named the recipients of the Journal of Travel Research – 2009 Best Article Award.
Peter Smith, an economics and finance professor in the School of Business at the College of Charleston, began developing retinitis pigmentosa, a type of progressive retinal degeneration, as a young adult. His disability has hardly prevented him from pursuing his passion for teaching.
The College of Charleston’s School of Business (SB) names Jocelyn Evans, Ph.D., as chair of its Department of Economics and Finance. “Dr. Evans has extensive research, committee leadership experience and commitment that makes her ideal for the chair position,” says Dr. Shao. “She cares deeply about student performance and spends hours outside of the classroom to help students succeed. The students really appreciate her and I look forward to working with her.”
David Desplaces, Ph.D. and assistant professor in the School of Business at the College of Charleston, was awarded the Freedoms Foudation Leavy Award Honoring Excellence in Private Enterprise Education. The Leavy Award recognizes outstanding teachers for bringing passion and creativity to their classrooms as they teach students about entrepreneurship and the free enterprise system.
