Charleston School of Business Faculty & Staff Updates

GA Process

** From Seaton Brown ’09, Director of Graduate Admissions, School of Business **

School of Business Faculty,

This year, the Master of Business Administration program is excited to open our Graduate Assistantship program to all roster faculty in the School of Business.

We’re excited about this opportunity to pair our MBA candidates with faculty invested in impactful research and teaching, moving beyond departmental administrative work and engaging in meaningful, practical research and assistance one-on-one with our School faculty.

The program is soliciting one-page position description proposals for graduate assistants from all School of Business roster faculty. Submissions to department chairs are due by Friday, April 21. After a Chair review and approval, proposals will be submitted to the MBA program. More than one proposal can be approved for submission to the MBA program per department.

Incoming MBA candidates will have the opportunity to apply and interview with the faculty sponsor before a hire is made.

All funding is provided by the MBA program at no cost to the department/center.

Faculty sponsors will be required to approve a bi-weekly timesheet and ensure the GA does not exceed the funding award amount. GA’s are approved to work between 10-15 hours per week and are employed September 1 to June 30.

Approval of a Graduate Assistant does not guarantee participation. Limited availability of students and funding will limit the number of assistantships assigned.

Position descriptions should include a job purpose, duties and responsibilities (with percentage breakdown), and preferred experience/requirements/skills.

If you have any questions, please let me know. We’re looking forward to our students supporting your work.
