For my blog post, I chose two stills that are from completely different scenes of the movie and from the opposite characters. However, they end up complementing each other perfectly. The first still comes from the first protest scene ever where a man is being interviewed about why he is protesting. He replies he is protesting “for free and fair elections” he goes on to discuss all other freedoms like freedom of speech. In the background, people can be seen throwing up peace signs and waving. They all are protesting but they are doing it in the most peaceful ways and not even cursing or any sort of violence. Although there our thousands of people standing up and its so many people standing up for free right its like a “Inextinguishable Fire” for the German government. The second still is from much later in the middle of the film when two commanding officers are discussing the protest. They are discussing how their duty as officers with power is to shut down the protest that they essentially explain as riots. The officers are getting their orders from their superiors however these officers are the ones that are going to order the police to go much harsher on the protesters. They discussed how they didn’t have enough precautions earlier such as shields for police most likely to hit the protesters. I think this shows the important meaning of the movie of how protestors are in the right and how the government is being tyrannical.
