Phi Lambda Beta is a national honor society composed of undergraduate and graduate students who have shown outstanding achievement in the study of Portuguese language, culture and literature.
On April 28, 2015, Dr. Luci Moreira, Associate Professor of Portuguese, installed the College of Charleston’s new Alpha Sigma Chapter of Phi Lambda Beta, the National Portuguese Honor Society, with the induction of two new student members: Anna M. Lewis and Summer O. Wertz.
Also recognized as honorary members were Dr. Antonio Tillis, Dean of the School of Languages, Cultures & World Affairs; Dr. Douglas Friedman, Director of International Studies and Latin American & Caribbean Studies; Dr. Mark P. Del Mastro, Chair of Hispanic Studies; and Professor José Moreira, Adjunct Professor of Portuguese. A reception followed this event.
