The student will demonstrate an understanding of domestic and foreign developments that contributed to the emergence of the United States as a world power in the twentieth century.
Enduring Understanding
The American belief in political democracy led the United States to support natural rights and political democracy for others, especially when it benefited American interests. The willingness of the United States to intervene politically and economically in other parts of the world began its emergence as a world power. To evaluate the role of the United States in world affairs in the past and present, the student will utilize the knowledge and skills set forth in the following primary sources:
