How to Submit

The submission deadline for the 2018 edition is December 15, 2017. Contributors will be contacted via email regarding acceptance after February 1, 2018. Please do not email us with inquiries before this date. Entries will only be published in Miscellany if accepted during the editing process.

The guidelines for submitting work is as follows:

Miscellany only accepts submissions online through Submittable from currently enrolled undergrads. Please include your graduation year and the university you attend in the body of your cover letter, but do not include your name in the cover letter. Please title your submission with the title(s) of your piece(s), and also include the title(s) at the top of the document itself if submitting writing. If submitting visual arts, be sure to name your file(s) as the title(s). Miscellany will not publish untitled pieces. Please do not put your name on your submission. Failure to follow these guidelines may prevent your work from being selected. Please email us at miscellany@cofc.edu if you have any questions/comments/concerns.

Each student is allowed to submit up to eight pieces per category. Please see below for the specific requirements in each genre. While multiple submissions in multiple genres is acceptable, please keep in mind that since we strive to publish the widest selection of student work possible, Miscellany will only publish at the maximum up to the three pieces per person.

Poetry Submissions

Please do not double space your poems unless that is your desired form and the way you’d like them to appear in the magazine. Each student is allowed to submit up to 5 pages per poem, and no more than 8 poems.

Prose Submissions

Please double space all prose. Each student is allowed to submit up to 8 prose pieces at 15 pages of prose each, although works around 8-10 pages have a higher acceptance rate.

Visual Art Submissions

There is no requirement regarding file type for visual art submissions. However, pieces that are not photographs must be photographed for consideration. Images with 300 psi resolution are preferred, but not required. Cell phone documentations/images are not allowed. Please note the medium of your visual arts piece in your cover letter. You may submit up to eight pieces of visual art.
