Due Date #2: Monday, Sep. 5 – 1pm (30 mins before class)
Due Date #3: Thursday, Sep. 8 – 11:55pm (5 mins before midnight)
Assignment
Select three examples (exercises) each from a different category, from Part 2 of our textbook.
Email your selections to me, as described in class, by Due Date #1 – see above.
You will be assigned one of the three to work on, as follows:
- Create a video (e.g., using your smartphone, or screen capture – with voice) up to three (3) minutes. Make sure you mention the class, your name, assignment number, and the date.
- Here are some useful guidelines on how to create your video.
- In terms of content, you should:
- Demonstrate your ability to run the selected example on your computer;
- Describe the artistic side of the example – what it demonstrates, what inspires it, the aesthetic experience it creates, and so on.
- Describe the technical side, i.e., talk about the different parts of the code in a way that we can understand the “what and why” it is happening, as opposed to the “how” is happening. This is a very important skill to develop well.
- Upload your video to YouTube, and make it private.
Submit the link to your video – using this form – by Due Date #2.
Evaluate the videos of your classmates – using this form – by Due Date #3.
Grading
Your grade will be based on (a) how well you follow these instructions and the depth/quality of your work, and (b) how thoughtfully you evaluated your peers’ contributions.
