On July 17 at the 54th International Congress of Americanists, Dr. Lola Colomina-Garrigós presented two papers: “Contestatory Discourses to the Logics of Capitalism and to Globalized Cultural Production from the Southern Cone” and “Prácticas de resistencia discursiva y editorial en la producción crítico-literaria y artística de Nelly Richard y Diamela Eltit.”

Dr. Carl Wise’s study “Eclipsed Autonomy: Celestial Images and the Free Will Debate in Antonio Mira de Amescua’s Álvaro de Luna Plays” will be published in 2013 in the journal Bulletin of the Comediantes.

During 12 days in July 2012, Dr. Sarah Owens conducted archival research in Toledo and Madrid, Spain.  She also presented her original study at the Congreso Internacional: Escritoras Entre  Rejas. Cultura conventual femenina en la España moderna.  The conference was sponsored by the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia in Madrid from July 5-7.
