Emergency Maintenance for CofC-Guest Wireless

SERVICE: CofC-Guest Wireless Network
IMPACT: Wireless network access for CofC-guest will be unavailable
DATE: Thursday, August 27th
TIME: 8:30PM to 10:30PM

OVERVIEW: On Thursday, August 27th at 8:30PM through 10:30PM, Network Engineering will perform emergency maintenance on the Guest network to resolve an issue with the servers that control internet access for users connected to CofC-Guest. Wireless network access for CofC-Guest will be unavailable during this maintenance window. As a reminder for any students, faculty or staff of the College, please connect to CofC-Secure for wireless access.

OVERVIEW: On Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 , starting at 12:00 AM through 4:00 AM, Network Engineering will perform software upgrades to the wireless access points at the College. Wireless connectivity at all campus locations, including remote sites, will be intermittent during this maintenance window.

Routine System Maintenance

SERVICE: Routine System Maintenance
IMPACT: CofC-Guest will be unavailable at all campus locations and CofC-Secure will be unavailable at the locations listed below during the maintenance window. The file servers will experience a brief service disruption.
DATE: Saturday, July 11, 2015 thru Sunday, July 12, 2015
TIME: 10:00 PM Saturday through 8:00 AM Sunday

OVERVIEW: IT will be performing preventative maintenance on College systems during the routine second Sunday maintenance window, including the file servers (Pitt, Wharfside, Dixie and Drayton) and the servers for the guest wireless network. CofC-Guest will be unavailable at all locations and CofC-Secure will be unavailable at the locations listed below during the maintenance window.

The following file servers will experience a brief service disruption:

  • Pitt
  • Wharfside
  • Dixie
  • Drayton

CofC-Secure will be unavailable in the following locations:

  • 14 Coming Street
  • 114 Wentworth Street

Wireless Maintenance

SERVICE:  Wireless Maintenance
IMPACT: The College wireless network service may be intermittent for users during this maintenance window.
DATES: Monday, May 18, 2015 – Friday, May 22, 2015

OVERVIEW: Throughout the week of May 18, 2-15 thru May 22, 2015, IT will be performing maintenance and upgrades on the College wireless networks.  During this time, the College wireless network remain available; however, service may be intermittent or temporarily interrupted. If you experience recurring connectivity issues, please contact the Helpdesk at (843)953-3375 or helpdesk@cofc.edu.

The purpose of the wireless maintenance is to migrate the wireless access points to a more improved management service, allowing IT to better manage the wireless network to minimize downtime.

The maintenance will be performed at all College of Charleston locations, with a number of buildings being upgraded each day. Please see the list below for more information.

SERVICE:  Wireless Maintenance
IMPACT: The College wireless network service will be intermittent for users during this maintenance window.
DATES: Monday, March 2, 2015 – Thursday, March 5, 2015

OVERVIEW: Throughout the week of March 2nd thru March 5th, IT will be performing maintenance and upgrades on the College wireless networks. During this time, the College wireless network service will be intermittent. The purpose of the wireless maintenance is to improve the stability and manageability of the network. The upgrades are to provide faster, more reliable service to users.

IMPACT: Access to the Internet (wired and wireless) will be intermittent during this maintenance window.
DATE: Saturday, November 8th, 2014
TIME: 9:00PM to 12:00AM

OVERVIEW: On Saturday, November 8th at 9:00 PM through midnight, Network Engineering will perform maintenance on equipment that connects the College to the Internet. Access to the Internet will be intermittent during this maintenance window. This maintenance windows affects both wired and wireless connections. Internet connectivity in residence halls and student housing will not be affected.

IMPACT: Certain wireless networks (such as CofC-Guest and CofC-Secure) will be unavailable depending upon locations.
DATE: Tuesday, November 4th, 2014 (College is closed due to Election Day)
TIME: Starting at 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM

OVERVIEW: On Tuesday, November 4th starting at 9:00 AM, Network Engineering will perform an upgrade on equipment that supports the wireless network.
