Banner Year End Processing

The Banner environment, which includes Banner Self Service, Banner INB and MyCharleston, will be down for financial year-end processing today, June 30th at 5:00 p.m. This requires that these applications be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. until approximately 12:05 a.m. July 1st .

The following applications will not be available during this time:

  • Banner Finance, HR/PY, Admissions, AR, Financial Aid and Student
  • Banner Self Service Finance, Employee, Financial Aid and Academic Services
  • MyCharleston, DegreeWorks, Touchnet, Axiom, POSM, eProcurement, BDMS, WorkFlow

During the outage MyCharleston will not be available; however an alternate web page will be rendered allowing access to systems outside of the Banner environment such as OAKS and Cmail. Thank you very much for your cooperation during this financial year end process.

MyCharleston/Banner Upgrade

SERVICE: MyCharleston/Banner Upgrade
IMPACT: Access to Banner Production Services including MyCharleston, Self-Service Banner (SSB), Internet Native Banner (INB), Banner Batch, UC4, and other applications dependent upon Banner for integration will be unavailable during this maintenance window.
DATE/TIME: Saturday, December 20th at 9:00 PM thru Sunday, December 21st at 2:00 PM

OVERVIEW: On Saturday, December 20th at 9:00 PM until Sunday, December 21st at 2:00 PM, Information Technology will perform an upgrade to Banner Production Services including MyCharleston, Self-Service Banner (SSB), Internet Native Banner (INB), Banner Batch, UC4, and other applications dependent upon Banner for integration.  Access to these applications will be unavailable. All services will be restored by 2:00 on Sunday, December 21st, 2014.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: IT publishes all scheduled maintenance on the IT blog at https://blogs.cofc.edu/it/. We encourage you to check this site often to be aware of scheduled preventative maintenance. OAKS Synchronization Issue Resolved

The synchronization issue between the Banner class list and the OAKS class list has been resolved. If you experience a discrepancy between your OAKS and Banner class list, please contact the IT Helpdesk at 843-953-3375 or helpdesk@cofc.edu.

OAKS and Banner Class List Synchronization

IT is investigating a possible synchronization issue between the Banner class list and the OAKS class list. If you experience a discrepancy between your OAKS and Banner class list, please contact the IT Helpdesk at 843-953-3375 or helpdesk@cofc.edu. IT will be closely monitoring any OAKS related Helpdesk tickets to verify if a pattern is evident.

Faculty can also use the online form to request that a student be added or removed from your OAKS class through the following steps:

If students do not have access to a particular course, please instruct them to contact the IT Helpdesk at 843-953-3375 or helpdesk@cofc.edu. Students will also be notified by IT.

Banner INB Upgrade

SERVICE: Banner INB Upgrade

IMPACT: Banner INB will be upgraded and inaccessible for all users during this maintenance window.

DATE: Sunday, August 3, 2014

TIME: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

OVERVIEW:  IT will be performing upgrades on the College applications listed below and their respective services will be unavailable. All services will be restored by August 3rd at 3:00 PM.
Banner Production Applications including SSB, INB, Banner Batch and UC4
Note:  During the Banner maintenance, MyCharleston will not be available starting at 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  OAKS, Cmail, Outlook Web Access, and Community Forums will be available and operating normally. When MyCharleston is unavailable an alternative webpage will be displayed that will outline how to access applications that are within the MyCharleston portal.

Self Service Banner Service Disruption

OAKS and Banner Classlist Update

IT has been actively working to correct the synchronization issues between Banner and OAKS cross-listed courses (combining multiple sections of the same course into one OAKS shell). Thorough testing between Information Technology and the Registrar’s Office yielded successful results between Banner and OAKS Version 10.3. OAKS will be upgraded to Version 10.3 on May 9th. We highly encourage faculty to submit your cross-listing requests before any type of student work is completed in the course. As you know, ALL STUDENT work/grades will be LOST during the cross-listing process. Cross-listing requests can take up to 3 business days to process so please plan accordingly. There is an known synchronization issue between the Banner class list and the OAKS class list that occurs during the Drop/Add period. This may result in a student’s record not being updated properly in OAKS.  The synchronization process between OAKS and Banner has a 99% success rate — as a result a very small number of users may have experienced this issue.  It is very important to IT that we find a solution.  Internally, we have developed a short term solution that we hope to implement before the start of our Spring 2014 semester. We are also working diligently with our Vendors to find a long term solution.  IT will keep the campus updated with progress.

Update: Banner INB issues for some users

Issues with the use of Firefox accessing Banner INB have been resolved for the majority of the reported problems—both PCs and Macs. Some Macs using an operating system version 10.5 and below may still experience problems. If you are a Banner INB user and still unable to access INB via MyCharleston, please contact the HelpDesk to discuss options.

Planned System Maintenance Starting December 20

Attention Faculty and Staff:

The Banner environment, which includes Banner Self Service, Banner INB and MyCharleston, will be down for a major system upgrade during the holiday break. This upgrade requires that these applications be unavailable for an extended period of time starting on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. through Tuesday, January 1, 2012. IT personnel will be working throughout the holiday break on this upgrade.

The following applications will not be available during this time:

–       Banner Finance, HR/PY, Admissions, AR, Financial Aid and Student

–       Banner Self Service Finance, Employee, Financial Aid and Academic Services, Starrez Student Portal

–       MyCharleston, DegreeWorks, BRM, POSM, eProcurement, BDMS, WorkFlow, Grades-First, MAP-Works, Axiom

–       Cognos, ODS, eVisions, Touchnet, ePrint

During the outage MyCharleston will not be available. However, if you access MyCharleston during the outage, you will be re-directed to another web page. This alternate page will allow access to systems outside of the Banner environment such as OAKS and Cmail. Please note that faculty and staff email will be available throughout the holiday break.
