Campus Community,
With hurricane season now upon us, we encourage you to review the IT hurricane preparedness guides for faculty, staff and students available at http://it.cofc.edu/emergency-preparedness.
These guides were created to help you prepare accordingly in the event of a hurricane. Please carefully read the recommendations provided and take the necessary steps to help ensure that you are prepared to continue operations during and after a disaster. You can access the respective guides below:
Highlights include:
· Updating your CougarAlert contact information
· Protecting your computer equipment
· Saving your College-related data to the U:drive (faculty and staff) and/or an encrypted USB flash drive
· Familiarizing yourself with applications that may be down during and immediately after a hurricane
These guides outline the steps that will help you protect the data on your computer during a hurricane. It’s important for individuals to be familiar with their department’s business continuity plans if campus applications and/or systems are down.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Information Technology Helpdesk at (843) 953-3375 or by emailing helpdesk@cofc.edu. We also encourage you to review the 2016SCHurricaneGuide provided by Randy Beaver as well as readiness guidelines for personal safety athttp://www.ready.gov/hurricanes.
