The Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston is launching a series called “Judaism and Social Justice,” made possible by the Legacy Heritage Jewish Studies Project, directed by the Association for Jewish Studies.

The first event in the series is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Stern Center Ballroom, 66 George St. It features Rabbi Jill Jacobs, executive director of Rabbis for Human Rights-North America. Jacobs will explore the religious, political, social and cultural roots of social justice in the Jewish tradition and consider the role of today’s American Jews.
