Dr. Steven Juame is a geologist at the College of Charleston. He says based on geological studies, the Lowcountry is a little ways of until the next big earthquake.
“One thing we know is that on average, it’s about five hundred years based on geological studies in Lowcountry between earthquakes of the size of the one of 1886,” he said.
