State honors local artists- Charleston Post and Courier

Nina Liu, a fixture of the Charleston art scene for a quarter-century, master fiber artist Mary Jackson of Johns Island, and educator-performer Steven Rosenberg of the College of Charleston have been named recipients of the 2011 Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s Awards for the Arts.

The highest honor bestowed by the state in the arts, the awards were established in 1972 and are presented annually by South Carolina Arts Commission.
