New chapter
The new Barnes & Noble bookstore at the College of Charleston, which opened in February, holds its grand opening today. Faculty author showcases include Bret Lott and Michelle VanParys starting at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively, and local author Margaret Middleton Rivers Eastman will sign copies of her book, “The Hidden History of Charleston,” starting at noon.
Customers can enjoy free treats from Cupcake. Student specials start at 2 p.m., and faculty members can enjoy a coffee break at 3 p.m. From 4 to 7 p.m. the event concludes with storytelling, crafts and appearances by children’s book characters Fancy Nancy and Biscuit the Dog.
