Winthrop University U.S. Dept. of Ed TRiO Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement projects

Winthrop McNair Scholars offers a paid summer research internship ($2800), summer room & board, and faculty mentoring. McNair Scholars present their research at a national conference, and many have earned national awards for their presentations.

Additionally, Winthrop’s McNair program pays for students’ travel to conferences, graduate school fairs, graduate school test prep & fees, graduate school application fees, and more! 

Winthrop’s McNair Scholars produce award winning research and go on to succeed in highly competitive graduate programs. This past summer, Winthrop students earned 25% of all of the awards at the Winthrop conference, 62.5% of the 8 first place awards, and 83% of the first place awards for the 6 categories in which they competed.

McNair Scholars receive guidance throughout the graduate application and interview process as well as help finding funding for graduate study. More information about the program is available here!

Applications are accepted year-round, but the deadline for priority consideration this year is Oct. 17. Recommendations are due by Oct. 24.

The Charleston Literary Festival will take place from November 4th through 13th, and will feature renowned authors, including Geraldine Brooks, Frans de Waal, Eddie Glaude Jr., Tiya Miles, Jean Hanff Korelitz, Patrick Radden Keefe, Renee Dudley, Elizabeth Williamson, and many more.

Apply to the Change Maker Program

Interested in making CofC a more sustainable community? The Cougar Changemaker Program aims to empower the campus community to create innovative sustainability initiatives through an accessible and well-supported change-making framework.

The Center for Sustainable Development is looking for projects that aim to make the College of Charleston campus more sustainable. Each semester, the Center for Sustainable Development can provide funding for up to $5,000!

The CofC Change Maker Program is a lengthy application, but the first part of the application is due September 26th, 2022. 

This is an amazing opportunity to make a positive local impact and boost your résumé.

Capabilities LLC is seeking warm, professional, and talented individuals from various educational backgrounds to serve our families.
