Research Opportunity with MUSC Department of Neurological Surgery

Honors College alum seeks students to help with intracranial aneurysm bench research

If you are interested in getting involved in some intracranial aneurysm research work with Dr. Guilherme Bastos Ferreira Porto ’12 (an Honors College alumnus!) in collaboration with  MUSC. The research is looking at different expression patterns of neutrophilic mRNA in blood as inflammation markers for identification of intracranial aneurysms pre-rupture. The work would require a couple hours a week of bench research in the lab of Dr. Das, who is assisting Dr. Porto. Depending on the interest of the student, this could span over the course of a semester or longer.

If you are interested, reach out to Dr. Porto at porto@musc.edu.
