Wanna Cool Summer Treat? Try Jeni’s on King Street. Check out their history!

Since our humble beginnings in 2002 in Columbus’ North Market, we’ve created ice creams that we fall madly in love with, that we want to bathe in, that make us see million-year-old stars. And we’ll devour it all out of Mason jars, coffee mugs, thrifted bowls—whatever we can get our hands on.

We are artists, writers, photographers, growers and producers. Designers, doers, drinkers. Thinkers, dreamers, beekeepers, dancers, engineers, and cyclists. Real-deal whiz kids and big-brain mathletes, ace musicians and world-class experience gatherers. We’re the people with the talent, hustle, and guts who make up Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.

We blend, bake, mix, peel, chop, skin, pulverize, roast, toast, and blow torch the ingredients that become ice creams.

We write, photograph, envision, tear, play, paint our way through the year on the Jeni’s Recipe Development and Art +Design teams.

We deliver it, ship it, box it, pack it, scoop it, count it, track it, and keep the ship going forward at full speed.

We cut no corners, we take no shortcuts.

So who is Jeni?

Jeni studied art at The Ohio State University, worked in a bakery, and had a serious hobby blending perfumes and collecting essential oils. It was the perfect foundation for a would-be ice cream maker.

Jeni left college to do her own thing from scratch, opening Scream Ice Cream in 1996 in Columbus, Ohio’s North Market. This would set the foundation for Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream’s opening there in 2002.

Today, Jeni and her kitchen team makes every ice cream, sorbet, and frozen yogurt from the ground up with grass- grazed milk, local produce, American bean-to-bar chocolate and select ingredients from around the world, including exquisite Fair-Trade-Certified African vanilla and Dutch cocoa.

When Jeni isnt developing new flavors, working on a book, or art directing new campaigns, she devotes her time to Local Matters (the fresh food for all Columbus based non profit she co-founded), serves on the boards of the Wexner Center for the Arts and the Columbuys College of Art and Design, and gets into trouble with her husband and two children at their home in Columbus, Ohio.
