Sixth Annual Graduate Student Research Poster Session

Thursday, January 19, 2012 will be the 6th Annual Graduate Student Research Poster Session. It will be held in the Stern Student Center Ballroom from 4-6 p.m. Information is now available on our website, and students working on research or creative projects should submit a poster proposal.  Details can be found on at http://gradschool.cofc.edu/currentstudents/research/research.php .  Examples of past posters with the correct format are available for your reference. There will also be a Poster Workshop at 4 pm on Monday, December 5, to assist students in the planning and execution of their posters.

Students are to submit their proposals to Dean Amy McCandless after obtaining approval from their program director.  In the past all students who submitted posters were able to present them, so it is a good idea for the student to begin working on their poster early. We will display as many posters as possible, and there will be a number of monetary prizes for the best posters and poster presentations.

A brief timeline:

By December 5 — reviewed poster proposal abstracts and cover sheets are due electronically to Dean McCandless (mccandlessa@cofc.edu) from students (or program directors)

By December 9 — students and program directors, supervising faculty, will have been notified of the poster selections

By January 13 — posters are due, electronic versions to be emailed to the Graduate School and posters to be printed and ready to hang

On January 19Poster Session — students will set-up posters from 9 am to 3:30 pm and give oral presentations from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Winning posters/presentations will be chosen and winners announced the following day.

The members of the Board of Trustees and the Graduate School Advisory Board will be on campus on the day of the poster session.  Each member will receive a personal invitation to attend the poster session. All faculty, staff and students will be invited to attend the event.
