11th Annual Graduate Research Symposium

The Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Association of The College of William & Mary invites all graduate students in the fields of Arts & Sciences to submit abstracts for the 11th Annual Graduate Research Symposium. This will be held March 23rd and 24th at the College of William & Mary. The conference is designed to bring together graduate students from differing areas of study and from all stages of the degree process. The congenial and professionally-oriented environment will provide an opportunity for students to present and discuss their research while fostering community relationships across discipline boundaries.

Abstracts of no more than 1,700 characters (~250 words) are requested for the following categories of submission:

  • Oral Presentations- disciplines in the Natural and Computational Sciences will have 12 minutes to present with three minutes for questions, and disciplines in the Humanities and Social Sciences will have 15 minutes to present with 5 minutes for questions.
  • Poster Presentations- Presenters are asked to be available for about one hour to discuss their work with symposium attendees. Size of posters must be limited to dimensions of no larger than 48” x 48”.

To submit an abstract, please visit http://web.wm.edu/grs/ and follow the instructions. The submission deadline is December 2, 2011. The number of oral and poster presentations may be limited by space availability. All accepted presenters will be notified in early January 2012.

Following abstract acceptance, presenters from other institutions will pay a conference registration fee of $85. All students whose abstracts are accepted for presentation are eligible to submit a 5 – 6 page paper for award consideration in their respective categories. There is an approximate $5500 in monetary awards anticipated!
