Introducing our newest Advisory Board member

Catherine Cook LaCour, a Charleston native, has deep ties to the College of Charleston.  Catherine’s father and grandfather were both professors:  Dr. Vernon Cook, professor of German and Russian from 1972-1982 and Dr. Hoyt Cook, professor of Greek and Latin from 1928-1958.  Catherine herself is an alumna.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Marketing from the College of Charleston.  In addition, both of Catherine’s godparents were professors:  Dr. Jim Anderson and Sister Anne Francis.

Catherine returned to Charleston a year ago to take a position with Blackbaud.  She is currently the Director of Marketing Operations and Communications there.   In this role, Catherine is a key owner of Blackbaud’s ‘Go to Market’ strategy for its software and services solutions, working with nonprofits of all sizes across the healthcare, higher education, family and human services and faith-based verticals.

Prior to Blackbaud, Catherine headed up marketing and product management for Regent Education, a provider of financial aid management software in the Washington DC area.  There, she set the strategic direction and managed the execution of Regent’s marketing programs, including branding, messaging and positioning, product marketing, lead generation, and marketing communications.  Prior to Regent, Catherine worked in San Francisco for several start-up technology companies focusing on strategic marketing, international development, and merger and acquisition strategies.

After receiving her MBA from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management, Catherine worked in Europe and Africa for the International Telecommunications Union, an arm of the United Nations.
