The Bridge Run & Downtown

bridge run 10The 33rd annual Cooper River Bridge Run is this Saturday.  If you’re new to the area and hope to go downtown, be aware that navigating the streets by car (and even foot) will be a little tricky.  Below is an email sent out by the College of Charleston Chief of Police listing street closures.  Plan ahead, and have a great weekend!

The Department of Public Safety is reminding the campus community that this Saturday, March 27, is the Annual Cooper River Bridge Run. The event begins at approximately 7:25 AM in Mt. Pleasant on Coleman Blvd. The event is expected to attract an estimated 40,000 participants and an additional 10,000 spectators.

Several streets in the area of the College will be closed as follows:

  • On Friday night (March 26), the southbound lane of Meeting Street between George and Calhoun Streets will close at 10:00 PM.
  • On Saturday morning (March 27), at 4:00 AM Meeting Street will close between John and Wentworth Streets. Calhoun Street between King and East Bay Streets will close at 5:00 AM.
  • Towing of all parked vehicles along the race route will begin at 4:00 AM on Saturday.
