Funded PhD Studentships in Civil War History

Fort_SumterDid you know that we’re approaching the sesquicentennial of the start of the U.S. Civil War? That makes the topic surprisingly timely, and the scholarly conversation on Civil War history is rapidly increasing. As a matter of fact, our own Center for the Lowcountry and the Atlantic World is hosting a conference on race and labor after slavery this weekend.

Amidst the flurry of historical discussion, many history students are becoming interested in this area of specialization. Luckily, Dr. David Gleeson, a professor at Northumbria University in the UK and an affiliate of the Center for the Lowcountry and the Atlantic World, recently alerted us to a unique opportunity for grad students interested in obtaining a Ph.D. in Civil War/Reconstruction History at his university.
