The Fullerton lab investigates microbial biogeography and metabolic diversity using high-throughput sequencing with multiple projects investigation iron-oxidizing bacteria. These bacteria are found at both  hydrothermal vents and across the Charleston area waterways. This research is based at the College of Charleston.
