Johnson’s poem was first published in Crazyhorse Issue 83.

The Best American Poetry series, begun by poet and editor David Lehman in 1988, has a different guest editor each year who reads through hundreds of literary journals (thousands of poems!) and selects poems which best represent the variety and community of American poetry. It is an honor for a literary journal to land a contributor in this respected anthology.
