Purpose and Description
This informal paper–which initiates a process of reflection on your academic, personal, and professional goals that will be central to this course–invites you to think about your career goals in relation your pursuit of MA-level coursework in English.
In your reflection, please articulate your current personal and professional goals, giving some sense of why these plans make sense for you as an individual–that is, how they align with things you value and things you do well. Also, please discuss how undertaking coursework through the joint MA program will assist you in reaching the goal(s) you identify. Please be specific. Also, an informal style is appropriate for this paper.
And please note: it is perfectly acceptable to be uncertain about broader, long-term goals. Reflection, much like writing itself, isn’t just a process of capturing the thoughts that exist, but crafting and imagining new ones. The future is yet to be written.
Evaluation
The paper will not receive a formal grade, but in order to receive full credit it must be turned in on time, it must meet the required length, it must identify short or long-term goals, describe what makes those goals valuable to you, and it must discusses how your see coursework in English supporting those goals.
