2021-2022 Teacher Leader Program

Applications for the 2021-2022 Teacher Leader program will open on Monday, March 15, 2021.  The deadline to apply is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021.

Please carefully review the following prior to beginning your application.

  • Program requirements are available online here.
  • You may only complete and submit this form ONCE. There is no option for saving and returning to this application, so be sure you have all the required documentation before you begin your application.
  • To begin application, go to the upper left-hand corner of this page and click on ‘Log in‘. Select ‘Use my School ID’. If prompted, log in using your MyCharleston credentials.
  • All application materials must be included at the time of online submission (with the exception of faculty recommendations which must be submitted by the faculty member separately).
  • All uploaded application materials must be submitted PDFs.
  • All materials must be uploaded to the candidate’s online application. No paper or incomplete applications will be accepted.
  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to request a recommendation from a Teacher Education faculty member.  Recommendations should be uploaded here no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
  • Selected applicants will be asked to participate in a panel interview.
  • Students selected for the program will be expected to participate in regularly scheduled activities, including a trip to Washington, D.C. during August (exact travel dates TBD, and travel plans contingent on Covid-19 travel policies.)

Here are some ideas to guide your thinking: 1) critical events and catalysts which influenced your development; 2) a rich description of your background, family, significant others as related to your leadership development; 3) social and cultural environments under which you grew and developed over time; 4) self-knowledge, including personal traits, what motivates you, and how your specific set of knowledge and skills have been acquired; 5) how your specific, high level talents impacted your life course; and 6) a critical examination of your decisions, goals, and interests and your leadership development; and 7) examples of anecdotes that illustrate your path.
