The Corporate Communications Office is looking for a highly-motivated, creative student with a self-starter attitude who is passionate about telling stories and has a strong background in video and digital design.
Big things are happening at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, and this internship opportunity couldn’t be at a better time. Next year, the district launches a strategic communications campaign to celebrate the organization’s 150 years of service to the state of South Carolina and the nation.
The intern will help the public affairs team develop diverse multimedia products that tell this enduring 150-year story and captures the spirit and unique characteristics that make the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers a great and exciting place to work. The intern will be a key member of the public affairs team and will gain valuable experience in strategic communications, media relations, event planning and content generation.
Duties: Depending on the intern’s skills and professional interests, the intern will assist the team in researching and developing creative promotional content for the 150th anniversary, including but not limited to:
- Behind-the-scenes and interview videos
- Motion animation videos
- Graphic design products, such as brochures, handouts and invitations
- Social media content
- And other creative ways to help tell the district story
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience with Adobe Suite products — including Premiere and After Effects — as well as experience using camera, lighting and audio equipment.
Knowledge of emerging digital and graphic design principles is also key for this role. The public affairs team can provide in-depth training in photography and design programs, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom and InDesign.
This internship is best suited for a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in film production, marketing, design, journalism, or a communications related degree, but all students with a passion and skill in visual storytelling and writing are encouraged to apply.
Notes: This internship is predominantly conducted remotely. Some projects, events and meetings will involve in-person filming, photo coverage or other support at or near our headquarters in Charleston, S.C. The internship is also about 10-20 hours, or roughly three days, per week. Weekly schedules and hours are flexible.
Application Deadline: Applications close on December 6, 2020 at 11:55 PM.
