Position: Communications/Marketing – Summer Intern

Internship Dates: May-August 2019. Intern must be available until the end of the USRowing Masters National Championships on August 19, 2019.

USRowing is offering two internship positions in the Communications/Marketing Department during the summer of 2019.

Summary: USRowing, the national governing body for rowing in the United States, seeks a summer intern to assist in the production, editing and publishing of content for and its various platforms.

Job Functions:

  • Write press releases, feature stories and athlete bios
  • Assist with media operations at local and national regattas and fundraising events
  • Assist with generating marketing materials for use across departments
  • Create promotional marketing materials for potential sponsors and revenue streams
  • Help maintain athlete and media databases
  • Provide support for daily media clips and other administrative duties
  • Assist with media requests, including scheduling and on-site facilitation
  • Produce graphic and video content for and various platforms
  • Assist with post-production footage including marketing and distributing finished product
  • Develop, produce and edit original content for all departments


  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated proofreading ability and use of AP style
  • Ability to work creatively in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to meet deadlines with little or no supervision
  • High level of enthusiasm and a strong work ethic
  • Proficient with Adobe products (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Proficient with Final Cut Pro, Avid, Adobe Premiere or equivalent
  • Experience in journalism, sports information, video production or a related field

A rowing background is preferred, but not required. A stipend is offered for this position. Course credit is also available. Applicants must secure housing and transportation to USRowing headquarters in Princeton, N.J., and have access to a car over the summer. Applicant must be available to work evenings and on the weekends occasionally.
