Aix en Provence by Lake Rucker

Studying abroad and learning about the culture and student life in France has definitely been a vital experience in my academic journey. I think that if you have the resources and you are given the chance to study abroad you should do it. I’ve made some of my favorite memories while studying here in Aix en Provence. I’m almost towards the end of my journey here but because there is so much to do and learn from it feels like my journey is always just getting started. My best days around Aix consist of just walking around and grasping the atmosphere of this beautiful town. My school is about a 40-minute walk away from my apartment and usually, that would be a pain for me but because the scenery and activity are so beautiful the walk is worth it. I usually stop at the market in between or before classes. It’s an outdoor farmers market with the freshest vegetables, fruits, and amazing foods to make the best charcuterie boards. The markets make the walk so much better. Another thing that I enjoy looking at on my walks to class is the endless gorgeous fountains that are placed all around the city. Aix is known to be one of the cities of fountains. Going to class here differs from on campus because even though the workload is a lot my professors specialize in what you want to learn about. For example, I told my french teacher I’m an art major, and she started teaching me french terms and conversations that relate to art and artists. I find this way of learning very helpful because it helps you learn while keeping it to stuff you are interested in. Overall, the classroom life in my art classes in France is amazing. You get to enjoy beautiful scenes while learning about interesting things.
