Intro by Morgan Cingari

Hello, my name is Morgan Cingari and I am a Junior at the College of Charleston. I am currently studying at the Sant’ Anna Institute in Sorrento Italy. I chose this program because it has always been my dream to study abroad in Italy, and visit the Amalfi Coast. I also grew up along the coast of Massachusetts, so the ability to be near the ocean allows me to feel close to home while being so far away. So far my experience has been that of a dream. I have set goals that I hope to accomplish while I am abroad. These goals include me bettering my Italian language, making connections with locals, and traveling to as many places as I can. Before coming to Sorrento I researched the best restaurants in Sorrento, and how many people reside in the town. One of the best restaurants that I found, and is my personal favorite, is O’Schizzariello. Since I arrived in Sorrento, I’ve gone to this restaurant at least once a week, the people who work there are so welcoming and friendly, they make me feel safe and right at home. The current population of Sorrento is approximately 16,009 people, which is a lot smaller than bigger Italian cities like Florence, which has approximately 382,258 people. Personally, I love living in a smaller city because it has allowed me the opportunity to create close relationships with local store owners and other citizens of Sorrento. I also feel substantially safer in a smaller town than I imagine I would in a much larger city like Milan or Rome. I am so grateful and excited to be here and I cannot wait to experience all that Study Abroad has to offer.
