C of C Men’s Soccer Club team wins Charleston Cup Indoor Soccer Tournament

The Charleston Cup is a series of sport tournaments between College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, and The Citadel. On Nov. 8, the indoor soccer tournament was held at the College of Charleston’s Silcox Gym. With CSU not being able to field teams, the tournament came down to teams from C of C and The Citadel. Men’s teams from C of C shut out The Citadel which set up a championship game between The Charleston Stogies and members of the C of C Men’s Soccer Club team. The Charleston Stogies were the 2013 Intramural Indoor Soccer Champions and the Club team was comprised of our international students. After regulation, the game ended with a 1-1 tie and had to go into a 5-minute golden goal overtime period. During a corner kick, Miguel Torres Guerrero’s shot found it’s way into the goal giving the C of C Men’s Soccer Club team the win. Both teams helped keep the Charleston Cup Indoor Soccer trophy on C of C’s campus for another year, but bragging rights go to the following students: Dominik Doll, Odin Beveridge, Roman Gabauer, Sven Liebisch, Maximilian Klass, Guido Cosentino, Julien Hote, and Miguel Torres Guerrero.
