Membership Eligibility
Refer to the “Applications / Forms” page to download member forms.
To Become a Full Member of AED:
- Complete at least 45 hours of course work (~3 semesters; No Transfer or AP credits)
- Fulfill and maintain a 3.2 Cumulative GPA
- Fulfill and maintain a 3.2 Science GPA
- Once these requirements are met, there is a one-time fee of $115 ($75 for National, $40 for Local Chapter)
- Genuine interest in the organization and a great personality!!!
To Become an Associate Member of AED:
- No minimum hour or GPA requirement
- One-time $40 Local Chapter fee
- Genuine interest in the organization and a great personality!!!
This is a great option for those without 45 hours and a 3.2 GPA. Associate members have all the same privileges (service, social, and networking benefits) as Full members, but are NOT officially recognized by the National AED Chapter.

NOTICE:
- If at any time an Associate Member meets all the requirements of a Full Member, the Associate Member can move up to Full Member status while only having to pay the $75 National Fee.
- To remain as an Active member of the College of Charleston AED Chapter, members must acquire a total of 10 attendance points. Each event counts as one point. Your accumulated attendance should look as follows:
- 3 points from Monthly Meetings
- 2 points from Professional Events (i.e., speaker events organized by AED, or any pre-health events hosted by the Health Advising office, CPR certification class)
- 2 points from Social Events
- 2 points from Service Events
- 1 point from Fundraising Events
